When Does David Become The King?
David is cited throughout the Bible as the model of the King to come and the pinnacle of all kings. Yet his character at times is deeply flawed. The key it seems is that he relentlessly pursues God and desires a close relationship with God. It is good news to us that imperfect people also can be included in God’s plans. David is also the introduction of “the king” There are three main offices in the OT which are fully consummated in Jesus; prophet, priest, and king. David exhibits some of the qualities of a godly king and is again a foreshadowing of Jesus and a continuation of God’s plan for restoration.
