Church of the Living Christ

Who We Are

CLC Mission

We are living our lives in ways that invite everyone we meet to become a follower of Christ so that God’s Spirit creates at CLC a community of faithful and fruitful servants who teach/lead one another in living out the Kingdom of God.

CLC Values

CLC is a Bible-based church that views its faith primarily through the lens of Reformed beliefs and faith. In this context, we nurture faith and action in the life of all who attend CLC

CLC offers a place where people from all ages, walks of life and life journeys experience and offer relationships of care and support. We care about people and build people who care about others so that we experience God’s grace together.

CLC is a place where staff serves among us, not for us, in ministry. Ministry staff – particularly the pastor – serve in a way that equips people of all ages to serve in the church and in the community and neighborhoods where we live.

We desire to make a difference in the world – both globally and locally. CLC works to inspire people to share their faith, take risks and follow God where he is calling them.

Relationships are at the heart of who we are as a church. Whether those relationships are built on common experiences in life (i.e. some form of grief or loss; working at the same place; or by common stage in life – raising children; empty nets; etc.; by common ministry together) or, by our common commitment to living out the gospel in Fremont community, we build relationships that are genuine, honest, unpretentious and gracious that empower conversations of grace and truth.

We form followers of Christ by building spaces (Sunday messages; youth and adult discipleship; intergenerational activities) that are relatable to life; challenge/inspire us to daily living for God; and help people grow (sometimes because we ask hard questions) in their spiritual walk with Christ.

Beliefs

CLC Fremont Believes

  • There is only one eternal, sovereign God who exists in three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
  • God created the heavens and the earth and declared his creation to be good.
  • All humans have sinned and live with a sin nature, which prevents them from rendering pleasing obedience to God on their own.
  • All humans, though marred by sin, bear God’s image and are therefore worthy of dignity and honor.
  • Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin and was both fully God and fully man.
  • Jesus lived a sinless life, taught about the kingdom of God and how God wants us to live in this life. He died on the cross for the sins of the world, was raised from the dead by the power of the Spirit, and lives today at the right hand of the Father.
  • If anyone desires the forgiveness of their sins, they must repent of their sins, believe that Jesus is the Son of God, and they will be forgiven.
  • All those who are truly born again will seek to live out the teachings of Jesus, summarized by the two greatest commands: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind” and “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
  • God has created all people in His image and has sovereignly called people to Himself from every nation and tribe, people, and tongue and that this diversity is ordained and glorious to God and should be celebrated.
  • Jesus is coming one day to usher in his final and perfect kingdom on earth. On that day he will judge the living and the dead. All those who believe and obey Jesus will live forever with him in the new heavens and new earth. All those who don’t believe in Jesus will face an irreversible punishment for their sin and rejection of God.
  • The Bible is inspired by God and is therefore our ultimate and final authority for all matters of faith and practice.
  • Believers are called to pursue God first above all else in every moment of our life.
  • Biblical marriage is between one man and one woman for a lifetime.
  • Every believer is an ambassador of the love of God in the lives of those who have not yet met God. When our lives and actions build God’s kingdom on earth, we celebrate God’s grace flowing through our lives.
